Start with a good posture:
Posture is the foundation of your walking form. Maintain a posture that is neither overly rigid nor relaxed; gently roll your shoulders back and allow them to rest naturally.

Arm movement matters:
Bend your elbows at about 90° and swing them naturally as you walk, always opposite arm to opposite leg. Proper arm swing helps keep your balance and gives your walk a natural rhythm.
Pay attention to foot placements:
How your feet strike the ground impacts your joints, muscles, and energy levels. The correct walking motion starts when your heel touches down first, then smoothly rolls through the foot, ending with a push-off from the toes to move you forward.
Watch your step length and speed:
Overstriding can cause joint pain, especially in the knees and hips. Your steps should feel natural and comfortable, not like you’re forcing them.

Pick the right shoes:
Shoes are your walking partner; if they don’t support you, your whole body feels it. Look for proper arch support, which helps with balance and reduces strain on your feet.
Be aware of your surface:
Not every walking surface is the same. Hard concrete may feel steady, but over time, it can be tough on your joints. Uneven ground can lead to ankle twists. Softer surfaces, such as grass, can be gentler on your body.
