Donald Trump health: US President Donald Trump is in “exceptional health,” his physician said Friday following a scheduled follow-up evaluation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The roughly three-hour visit in Bethesda, Maryland, included advanced imaging, lab tests, and preventive assessments, as well as the president’s annual flu shot and a COVID-19 booster.
Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, the president’s doctor, said Trump “remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance.” Barbabella added that the evaluation helps prepare Trump for upcoming travel, with trips to the Middle East this weekend and Asia later this month.

According to the physician, Trump’s “cardiac age” was about 14 years younger than his chronological age. The White House initially described the visit as a routine yearly checkup, despite the president having undergone an annual physical in April, before referring to it as a semiannual exam.
Trump’s April physical concluded he was “fully fit” to serve, noting a 20-pound weight loss since June 2020 and an “active lifestyle.” In July, the White House disclosed a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency after the president reported mild leg swelling, a condition common in older adults in which vein valves weaken and blood pools.
The administration has released varying levels of detail from Trump’s medical reviews, including weight, BMI, past surgeries, mental health screenings, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Officials have said they aim to dispel rumours surrounding his health, including recent bruising observed on his hand.
Trump has frequently contrasted his health with that of his Democratic rival, President Joe Biden, highlighting his own cognitive testing. Biden has said he was fit to serve but exited the 2024 presidential race after a widely criticised debate performance.
