China has been able to uphold its national tuberculosis (TB) cure rate of over 90 percent since 2012, as evidence of enormous improvement in combating the infectious disease, the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration announced. The nation has seen continuously declining TB incidence and mortality, with both cases decreasing by an estimated 30 percent over the last decade.
Authorities noted China’s twice yearly global average rate reduction in cases of TB annually and relatively low rates of death from TB. That achievement followed a series of cutting-edge preventive work, early treatment, and diagnosis.
Liu Qing, an administration high-ranking official, emphasized the importance of continued work towards combating TB. China has implemented massive screening programs, reinforced public health measures, and improved access to medical care in recent years, thereby ensuring that patients receive effective and timely treatment. In the future, the administration will enhance inter-agency coordination, expand proactive screening programs, and use policy tools to reduce the economic burden for TB patients.
China’s continued success in the battle against TB is a testimony to its commitment to public health, further cementing its status as a world leader in the battle against infectious diseases.
