The rare autoimmune neurological condition known as Guillain-Barré Syndrome has confirmed its first death in Solapur, Maharashtra. This comes at a time when the state has reported 101 cases of GBS, with 19 patients still under investigation and 16 patients admitted to the hospital on ventilators.
Here, the State Public Health Department wasted little time in forming a reaction team and ramping up district-wide surveillance. The district of Pune is the site of six of the suspected cases.
